An eight-lesson study of how we received the King James Bible — and of the long campaign against it. The course establishes two ground rules (that the God who inspired the Scriptures also preserved them, and that Satan counterfeits what God gives), then works through the development of the English language, the vocabulary of manuscript evidence, the contest between the texts of Antioch and Alexandria, the work of Erasmus, and the men and movements that produced the modern versions.
Required text: King James Bible.
Textbook: An Understandable History of the Bible by Dr. Sam Gipp — the entire book is assigned reading.
Instructor: Dr. Tom Gresham.
Coursework: Listen to each of the eight audio lectures and take detailed notes, and read the textbook in full. The final exam is open-Bible and open-notes.
