Meeting the Lord at the Mercy Seat

Meeting the Lord at the Mercy Seat

Moses and the children of Israel had finished offering their offerings for the dedication of the tabernacle.  At the end of that, Moses went into the tabernacle to speak to the Lord.

Numbers 7:89 And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.

Meeting the Lord at the Mercy Seat

Moses and the children of Israel had finished offering their offerings for the dedication of the tabernacle.  At the end of that, Moses went into the tabernacle to speak to the Lord.  Moses heard the Lord speaking to him from off the mercy seat.  He heard the voice coming from on top of the ark of testimony.  That had to be a weird situation.  But Moses likely had grown accustom to talking to the Lord in various locations including here and on top of Mount Sinai.  There should be places that we talk to the Lord.  He should be as real to us as he was to Moses when he met him at the Mercy Seat.

Between the Cherubims

Do you have a special place that you meet with the Lord.  The Lord was right between those two cherubims.  You should have a special place that you meet the Lord and prayer each day.  It could be in a closet, beside a bed, sitting in a chair, laying on a bed, it does not matter where.  You need to be alone if possible to put all the distractions aside.  When Moses met the Lord, he always seemed to be alone.  He would leave others behind to go talk to him face to face.  Do we talk to the Lord face to face.  He should be that real to you if at all possible.  Sweet fellowship with the Lord is only going to come when you live a holy life pleasing to Him.  Why not meet the Lord between the cherubims today?
