A twelve-lesson verse-by-verse study of the first half of the Gospel of John, covering chapters 1 through 10. John wrote so that men might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and the course follows that aim through the great scenes of the book: the Word made flesh, Nicodemus and the new birth, the woman at the well, the feeding of the five thousand, the bread of life, the woman taken in adultery, the man born blind, and the Good Shepherd.
Along the way the lessons take up the passages where modern versions differ from the Authorized Version — “only begotten” in John 3:16, the word “yet” in John 7:8, “make” against “set” free in John 8:32, Hebrew against Aramaic in John 5:2, and the adultery pericope — and answer the doctrines of the cults from the text itself.

Course materials: twelve audio lectures, fourteen pages of handouts, and one final exam.
Coursework: Listen to each lecture and take detailed notes. Several handouts are assigned as reading — the order of events at the baptism, the John 5 version comparison, the Sabbath carrying rules, the feasts of Israel, the Galileans, Hanukkah, and the study on “no man hath seen God at any time.” The final exam is open-Bible and open-notes.
