An eleven-lesson verse-by-verse study of the second half of the Gospel of John, covering chapters 11 through 21 — the continuation of AD1208. The course opens at the grave of Lazarus and runs through the supper at Bethany, the triumphal entry, the washing of the disciples’ feet, the upper room discourse, the vine chapter, the Lord’s own prayer in John 17, Gethsemane, the sham trial, the crucifixion, the empty tomb, and the restoration of Peter.
Along the way the lessons take up the hard passages and answer them from the text: the hardening of hearts in John 12, whether John 15 can cost a man his salvation, the two high priests of John 18, the day of the crucifixion, the giving of the Holy Ghost in John 20:22, Rome’s use of John 20:23 to claim that priests forgive sins, and the agape/phileo argument in John 21. Modern-version differences are handled as they arise, including the removal of the word “now” from John 18:36.

Coursework: Listen to each lecture and take detailed notes. Handouts cover the anointing comparison, the tabernacle layout, the crucifixion timeline, the order of events on resurrection day, the John 20:23 study, the list of the disciples, the Agape/Phileo project, and the two high priests. Handout 7 is assigned as homework — complete it and contact the Dean for the answer key; it is not submitted for grading. The final exam is open-Bible and open-notes.
