This policy describes what the Old Paths Bible Institute mobile app (the “App”), published by Old Paths Baptist Church, collects and how it is used. The App is a companion to the Bible Institute courses on oldpathsbaptistchurch.com and uses the same student accounts.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your username, display name, and email address from your existing church website account. The App does not create accounts; they are set up by the church.
- Course activity. Which courses you enroll in, which lessons you have opened and completed, your answers to lesson questions (including any files you upload for file-upload questions), scores, and instructor feedback.
- Listening and study data. Your last position in each lesson’s audio recording and the time you spend on each lesson, so you can resume where you left off and so instructors can see student progress.
- Device name. When you sign in, the App records a short device description (for example, “iPhone”) alongside your sign-in session.
The App does not collect your location, contacts, photos (other than a file you choose to upload as an answer), or advertising identifiers, and it contains no advertising or third-party analytics.
How we use it
- To deliver course audio, notes, and questions to you and keep your place.
- To grade your answers and show you results and instructor feedback.
- To let the church’s instructors see student progress and grade written answers.
- To keep you signed in on your device.
Where your data is stored
Your information is stored on the church’s website server, the same system that powers the courses on oldpathsbaptistchurch.com, and is transmitted using HTTPS encryption. A copy of recently viewed course content and your sign-in token is kept on your device so the App opens quickly and lesson notes can be read offline. Signing out removes the sign-in token from your device.
Sharing
We do not sell or share your information with third parties. It is visible only to you and to the church’s course administrators and instructors. The App uses Apple’s and Expo’s standard app-delivery services, which may receive basic technical information (such as your device type and iOS version) needed to deliver and update the App; those services do not receive your course data.
Your choices
- Sign out at any time from the Account tab.
- Change your password on the church website from the Account tab.
- Delete your account. Use “Request account deletion” in the Account tab, or email pastormatt@opbc.us. We will delete your account and all associated course records within 30 days.
Children
The App is intended for adult students of the Bible Institute. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
