Isaiah 43:25 – I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
Psalms 103:12 – As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
1 Peter 4:8 – And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Blot – To efface; to erase; to cause to be unseen, or forgotten; to destroy; as, to blot out a crime, or the remembrance of any thing.
Webster’s 1828 Dictionary
Blot it out. That is what God does with our sins when we are saved. He erases them and and makes them invisible. Our sins are as far apart as east is from west. There is not a pole on the equator so there is no start of east or west. East is an infinite distance from west. Good thing God did not say as far as north is from south or our sins would catch up to us sooner or later.
God blots out our transgressions for His own sake according to Isaiah. He wants a Holy people that will dwell with Him for all eternity. It would also seem to indicate that God saved us not for our glory but rather His. He loves us and is not willing that any should perish, but everyone repent. Unfortunately, not everyone is going to repent and come to Christ. If do not repent and trust Christ, He will remember your sins at the Great White Throne Judgment right before He casts you into the Lake of Fire.
God has a memory problem when it comes to our transgressions. He said he “will” not remember them. They are under the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. We need to try and forget our sin and others sin. When we have fervent charity among each other, we will cover the multitude of sins in our lives. If you repeat or talk about sin in your life or others life that is in the past, I think you are being used of the devil. He is the accuser of the brethren. We should be the “sin covers” of the brethren.
What is your attitude toward sin? Does it bring shame and you want to cover it, hide it, blot it out, forget it and put it behind you? Or do you want to brag about it, talk about it, expose it, remember it and keep bringing it up? Maybe check yourself out. If you want to brag about something, brag about the Lord Jesus Christ and the fact that He would save worthless sinners like you and me.
