Destroying your own home is not as hard as you would think. Just give into the flesh at the wrong time and you can quickly destroy a marriage or your children.
Proverbs 11:29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
Destroying Your Own Home
Destroying your own home is not as hard as you would think. Just give into the flesh at the wrong time and you can quickly destroy a marriage or your children. The Bible makes it pretty clear that you should drink waters out of your own cistern and not another. Divorce destroys families, finances and futures. This verse in Proverbs shows that a man’s wealth is destroyed by living an adulterous life. David’s family was never the same after his sin with Bathsheba. There is more that can destroy a home than just adultery. Not bringing your children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord will do it too. We want to see our children go on and serve the Lord. We as parents want to make sure we do not help to destroy our house by not providing strong Bible training and discipline.
Servant to the Wise
If you are not going to be wise, you will be the servant of someone who is. For all the people who complain about their bosses and how they could run the business better, let them try and take the risk of running a business and see how they come out. They would soon find out it is not as easy as they think. The same is true in the home. The children seem to always have a better way of doing things than the parents, especially the average teenager. Their 13-19 years of vast experience is just what you need as a parent. If they do not listen to mom and dad, they will destroy their lives through the many critical decisions they need to make at this time in life. They will destroy the home their parents have tried to build. Parents, children, husband or wife, don’t destroy the home God has given you. It just takes a foolish decision made in the flesh to destroy a good name that has been built up over many years.
