We were created for His pleasure, not our own.
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
We were created for His pleasure, not our own. When the twenty-four elders worship God around the throne, this verse is their constant praise reminding all in heaven that only God should receive glory and honour and power. This side of heaven is the only place where man can exert his will and choose to either let God have His way in their life or to just do what ever they want. When we use our life and our body to do what we want and just please our flesh, we are telling God He is not worthy to receive or have what is rightfully His. When we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, body and mind, we show that He is first and can have pleasure from our life.
You and I are designed by the master engineer of the universe to bring pleasure to our creator. When an engineer designs a new engine, car, train, plane or appliance, he does so with the purpose in mind that it will please the customer. Inn addition, an engineer gets satisfaction or pleasure from a well created design. In addition, an engineer gets satisfaction when his design works as planned and meets all it performance specifications. When someone takes what an engineer makes and abuses it or uses it for an unintended purpose, that can disappoint an engineer.
God’s Creation – Man
God created man with a purpose in mind from the beginning. God get’s pleasure from seeing us fulfill His purpose for us. When we function as God intended for us, we bring pleasure back to Him. He designed us to love and worship Him. When we do that, we are using His creation as intended. When we use His creation to fulfill the lust and pleasures of the flesh and then live carnal, worldly lives, we are abusing God’s creation. We are taking what God made and then destroying it. When we abuse our bodies with whatever form of pleasure, we are destroying God’s creation. God gets upset when we destroy what rightfully belongs to Him. Let God have pleasure with your life today. Worship and glorify and praise Him. That is what you were designed to do.
