Let Someone Else Praise You

Let Someone Else Praise You

You need to let someone else praise you, and in particular God.

Proverbs 27:2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

Let Someone Else Praise You

You need to let someone else praise you, and in particular God.  Many will seek the praise of others.  Some just outright brag about all of their accomplishments.  It is pride which drives us to seek recognition of others.  If we could just humble ourselves and let our praises be stored up in the bank of heaven, we might actually have something left we could receive at the Judgment Seat of Christ.  Instead we seek our praise this side of heaven and likely won’t have much left when we get up their.  We should make sure we don’t praise ourselves with our own mouths.  Giving a testimony needs to be done carefully so we do not glorify ourselves rather than God.  Talking too much about ourselves and what “we did for God” and not giving God the praise and glory is wrong.  Keeping it short and sweet helps too.

Proclaiming Your Own Goodness

Most people will proclaim their own goodness.  They will talk about how they have done many, mighty things for God.  They will also brag about worldly things as well.  Sometimes it gets to the point the stories are almost unbelievable.  Those are not the kind of people I like to be around and neither does God.  God hates pride.  When you are constantly telling everyone all you know, it more often than not involves lots of pride.  What God prefers is faithfulness.  He wants someone who just faithfully executes the will of God and tries to stay out of the limelight.  God wants faithfulness, not bragging.  Let someone else praise you and don’t you prompt them.  It should not matter to you whether someone praises you or not.  You should just be a faithful servant for your Lord if no one recognizes you this side of heaven.
