The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Neglected Service

Ecclesiastes 9:10 – Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Great opportunities for service neglected, and great gifts not improved, are oftentimes the occasion of plunging the soul into great depths. – Owen

Don’t Miss Opportunities

We need to make sure we do not miss opportunities for neglected service.  God wants us to be diligent about our service for him.  If you are a preacher, be the best preacher you can be.  If you are a musician, be the best musician you can be.  When we neglect a gift, or do not practice, it will eventually be our downfall, as Owen says.  It will spiritually kill us.  We constantly need to try to grow as Christians and we need to grow in the abilities God has given us.

Dont’ Quit

There are a lot of people who are quitters. They just do not want to put the effort required into doing something to the best of their ability, especially something for God.  A lot of times an opportunity will come along our path and if we fail to take advantage of it, it will have consequences for the rest of our life. You only have 70 to 80 years on this earth.  Be sure to use every year to make progress and improve.  Do it with all your might.  You don’t know when the Lord will come back.  When you look back over the last year, can you say you have improved in some gift or service for the Lord?
