We were not a people of God when we got saved. We were heathen.
Hosea 2:23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
Not a People
We were not a people of God when we got saved. We were heathen. The Jews rejected Jesus Christ when they crucified Him and again when the apostles witnessed to them. The apostle Paul made it pretty clear God was going to make a people out of the Gentiles. We were nobodies in the kingdom of God before the Jews rejected Christ. We did not even exist. When a Gentile went to Christ once, He would not even hardly give her the time of day until he saw a lot of faith. Faith turns God’s head no matter where it comes from. If God did not have mercy on us, we never would have gotten saved. We were not a people at all.
Now God’s People
We are now God’s people. America is the only nation that ever choose God as a nation. God choose the nation of Israel. God chose to have mercy on the Gentiles of the earth. He has sown the seed of the gospel in every nation. God had mercy on people that had never obtained mercy before. God calls us His people and we call Him our God. We should be ever so grateful that we have heard the gospel and then gotten saved. There are very few people in this world who can say that. God came looking for me when I was lost and undone. I was on my way to hell and God said He wanted me. What a blessing to be called of God. What a blessing to be God’s people when we were not a people at all before.
