Isaiah 51:6 – Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
2 Corinthians 5:2 – For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
A lot of worldly sayings have a Bible origin. See you on the flip side is likely one of them. God refers to the earth as an old garment. He also refers to our soul as desiring to be clothed with a new garment or a glorified body in heaven. We are looking at this universe from the back side. One day the heavens are going to be rolled away and we will see heaven from the front side. One day God is going to do away with this old world and burn it up. This earth does not need to last for ever despite what the environmentalists think. God is going to make a new heaven and a new earth that will not fall apart like this one.
I often long to be on the other side of that garment. I want to be with my Lord and talk to Him face to face rather than through a dark glass and wonder at times if he can really hear me. Faith is something that is unique to this life. There will not be faith over on the other side because we can see him as he is over there. I hope to see you on the flip side someday. I hope to see you in heaven.
