Joshua 4:24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever.
The Hand of the Lord
The phrase “The hand of the Lord” is used 38 times in the Bible. Sometimes it is used as an instrument of punishment against God’s people. At other times it is used as a way of opening opportunities for God’s people to accomplish His service. The hand of the Lord is mighty. It gets us out of many a scape. It guides and directs us where we should go and what we should do. It comforts us in trials and afflictions. The hand of the Lord is visible. The Lord uses his hand to show His strength in the lives of His people. The Lord’s hand is not slack concerning His promises. He will always come through.
That Ye Might Fear
The hand of the Lord is also used in judgment against His people when they disobey. The Lord is going to make sure His people are chastened when they need it. The Bible makes it clear that we can know we are His sons when we are chastened. The fear of the Lord is clean and righteous. It is good for us and will keep us out of trouble. Fear can keep you from trouble. We should fear the Lord and not man. Fear needs to be in the right person. A healthy fear of God will keep you out of trouble.
