The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Having the Right Kind of Knowledge to Know the Will of God for Your Life

Colossians 1:9. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

Knowing the will of God for your life is important.  We get the knowledge, wisdom and understanding of that will by reading the word of God.  God then guides, directs, opens doors, and helps circumstances happen as we try to live in what we clearly understand from the word of God.  Paul prayed for the Colossians, as a local church, that they would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will.  We need to pray for each other to have knowledge and spiritual understanding in all that we do.

Living a life of faith is not an easy thing to do.  You have to move forward with what knowledge you have from the word of God and then trust Him for the rest.  I have never had a sign appear in the sky telling me what to do.  I have had gentle nudging from the Holy Ghost to do things at times.  If we acknowledge Him and ask for His guidance, we have a promise from the word of God that he will direct our paths (Ps. 3:6).  It is important to include the Lord in your decisions throughout the day.  A quick “Nehimiah” prayer will work at times when you don’t have a lot of time.

It is good, early in the day, to acknowledge the Lord and ask for His guidance and direction.  We need to be filled with God’s spirit, so that when the time comes, we are ready to make decisions according to His will.  The Lord has a place He wants all of us to be (a geographic will).  We all should have a calling of some kind on our life for what the Lord would have use do (a vocational will).  We should also have a will for who we should marry or have as a friend (a relational will).  It is important that you are doing what God’s wants you to do.  It is going to take spiritual understanding.  There is no better place to get spiritual understanding than the house of God.
