Psalms 17:14-15. From men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
Men of the World
“Men of the World” are men and women who live only for this life. They have a portion in this life and that is all they have. Hell is their final destination and most of them have no idea they are headed there. Many of them are blessed with physical things in this life. They have children and grandchildren, sometimes many of them. They leave what they have to their children. They only have what is in this life. Sadly, there are many who live this way with no regard for God. There are, also, a lot of second generation Christians who know better and have become men of the world, not through ignorance, but willingly choosing the pleasures of sin for a season.
Men of the Kingdom of God
The Christian should be “Men of the Kingdom of God.” They should live, not for this life but the next. They should want to see the righteous face of God more than to enjoy some new pleasure. Do you value time spent with the Lord more than time enjoying the things of this world? I hope so. Are you satisfied with just seeing God’s face and having his presence, even if it means living in a shack here on earth? The reality is that God has blessed abundantly. However, we should never let things take our heart. We don’t need a belly full of hid treasure like the lost. We need the Lord. Are you happy with just seeing God’s likeness or face in His word? There is no greater thing in this world than having the presence of God in your life. Don’t become a man of the world. God needs men of the kingdom of God.
