The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Not Your Life Anymore

1 Corinthians 6:19 – What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Galatians 2:20 – I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

When you got saved, you gave possession of your life and body over to the Lord Jesus Christ.  You hear people say, “I just want to live my life the way I want to.”  The problem is, it is no long your life to live.  You gave it to Christ.  Now, there are people who after they get saved try and take possession of their life back.  That is stealing.  As I heard Br. Tim Green say in an illustration, it would be like you selling something to someone and then saying you still wanted access to that item so you could use it any time you want.  No one would ever agree to such a transaction.

When we give up this life to Christ, we give him full control of all the decisions in our life, past, present and future. We do not need to live a life of what ifs.  No one has a perfect life.  Since Christ owns this life it does not matter.  He bought the bad and the good (boy did he get a bad deal with most of us).  He is able to take the bad and make it good.  The bad is like the sand in the oyster’s shell that produces a pearl.  Let God have control and make some pearls.

We know that every thing that comes our way is going to work together for our good because we a have a sovereign God that wants to bless his children.  We need to submit to the Word of God in everything.  This is not your life anymore, it is His.  All the bad and good both belong to Him.  He is able to make the bad work for His good according to Rom. 8:28.  You can still try and steal this life back from Him.  The question is, are you going to die to self today and let him have his life in you?
