2 Chronicles 36:16 – But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
Obviously this verse was written to the nation of Israel but I think you could apply it to America. The only difference in our origins as nations is God choose Israel to be his people whereas America choose God to be their God. Obviously the sovereignty of God was involved in both our origins. American was started as a Christian nation there is no doubt. We know where we came from and that is the Bible. Our laws and the very constitution that governs us came from that holy book. We know where America came from but where is she going?
America is obviously going more and more away from its origins every day. They mock the messengers of God all day long. True Bible-believing Christians are starting to become the only minority that it is okay to mock and “discriminate” against. They despise his words. They hate the Bible. Try to carry on a conversation about the Bible with even the typical church member in America and they are trying to change the subject or mocking the Word of God faster than you can shake a stick. They hate God’s people too. They will do anything they can to drag a Christian through the mud. They even go out trying to find any dirty laundry they can about Christians and display it in front of the whole world. The devil really wants to make a spectactle of God’s people so he can say this person did so and so and they say they are a Christian?
At some point God’s wrath has to fall on this nation. That wrath will fall on the just and the unjust. I doubt we will be exempt. According to this verse the wrath fell on God’s people, not the heathen. You can misuse a prophet by not doing what he tells you from the Word of God. How many times have we ignored the word when it is preached to us by God’s man? Lastly, we see there is no rememdy. There is no way to fix it. There is a point of no return. I hope we have not gone that far yet. I am hoping for at least a local revival. Let’s pray God holds off judgment a little longer so his people that are called by his name can humble themselves and return to him. Where is America going?
