1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
Some Strange Things
There are some strange things that happen to the children of God. The lost go through tribulation and trial that is often the result of self-induced reaping of what they have sown in the flesh. With the child of God it is different. As with Job, strange things happened to him that were unexplainable by himself and his brothers in Christ. These brethren thought they understood why all this bad was happening to Job but they were wrong. The reality was it was a strange fiery trail produced by the devil with the purpose of trying Job to see what he was made of. God wanted to grow Job and help him with some of his pride. The method of accomplishing that produced some very strange and unexplainable events in his life. It is not everyday all your children are killed and you get boils from head to toe.
Don’t Think it Strange
We need to not think it strange when these strange trials start happening. Job gave God the credit for judging faithfully in his life. He did not charge God foolishly. He trusted God. He just did not understand why everything was happening. We need to make sure we don’t start to think it strange when weird battles start to happen in the mind. We should not question God and His goodness. If we can trust Him and see beyond the trial and look to God’s ultimate purpose in the trial, we can begin to see what God is really trying to accomplish. Job maybe did not see as quick as he should have God dealing with him about his pride. The quicker we can start to work on what God is real trying to teach us, the quicker the strange trial may come to an end. The strange trial is not the ultimate goal for God but rather the revealing of sin in our life and the changes God wants to work. Trials try to get us to grow. Don’t worry about the mechanism God uses to change us, just look at the end result He is trying to accomplish. There are some strange things that happen to the Christian. The important things is what God is trying to accomplish, not the strange things.
