Pride and faith are opposites of each other. You cannot have a soul which is lifted up and still live by faith. You need to live right and be upright, not in your own strength, but in the strength of the Lord.
Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Pride and Faith are Opposites
Pride and faith are opposites of each other. You cannot have a soul which is lifted up and still live by faith. You need to live right and be upright, not in your own strength, but in the strength of the Lord. When we start to think highly of what we have done, we often become critical of others and see ourselves as better. When this happens, it is difficult to trust others because we are so dependent on ourselves and what we can do. The same thing happens with our relationship with the Lord. When we start to look at what we have done compared to others and then starting thinking we have done a pretty good job, there is little room for faith. Faith is trusting God to do what he said in His word without intervention from us. When you are totally dependent on the Lord, you are totally not dependent on yourself. People start to doubt their salvation at times because they are not totally dependent on the Lord for saving them.
The Just Live By Faith
The just live by faith, not by sight or what they can do themselves. They are totally dependent on the Lord for whatever it may be in their life. It is sometimes a lot easier to just go out and do something “spiritual” just to get it done. You may have accomplished something but is it what the Lord wanted? Did the Lord do it or did you do it? When you have to pray over something and get the mind of God on it before you move out, it may take days or weeks longer. It also may take a lot of battling in the spirit to figure out the will of God. That is what living by faith is. There are very few who do that way. But that is how the just live. They do things by trusting God. That is how you came to the Lord to save you. That is also how you should live your Christian life, day in and day out.
