Proverbs 28:2. For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
A Man of Understanding to Preserve a Nation
America got in the shape she is in by a lot of wicked leaders slowly making bad choices. The communist takeover did not work, so they slowly rolled it in through socialism. According to this verse, this kind of wickedness could all be stopped by a single godly man. It sure does not look like such a man exists. Much like the people of Israel, we need to pray for a deliverer. We truly need one. Now we have a “system” of government so corrupt it is about impossible for a man of understanding to arise. The kings of Israel had a pretty easy job of it when they decided to turn the nation around. They killed a few wicked people, burned up a few idols, and cut down a few groves. I don’t think it is going to be that easy in America.
America Now Has a Lot of Princes to Increase Sin
We need men of understanding to prolong this nation that was once founded on godly principles. Our form of government is not a monarchy, which is God’s form of government. Because of that, we have a lot of princes. We have one President, one Vice President, 535 Congressmen, 100 Senators, 12 Judges at the federal level and many more at the state and local level. There are, also, all of the unelected bureaucrats. Because we have a lot of princes, we have a lot of ways to spread wickedness and transgression. The more laws you have, the more sin you have. Laws do not make a righteous people. Congress’s answer to every problem in life is that we just need another law.
Righteousness Has to Come From a Godly People That Can Self-Govern
Righteousness did not come by the law for the nation of Israel, in the Old Testament. Righteous comes in a person, Jesus Christ, and him alone. Any law that adds to the laws of God, above and beyond what he did not intend, is usually not for our good. Government, with its many princes, has only produced a burden and destruction of this nation. The constitution was written for a godly people to self-govern. When our Founding Fathers gave us the Bill of Rights, they gave it to a nation of people who believed the Bible. That is no longer the case. This nation cannot govern itself like it used to be able to. They now need thousands and thousands of laws.
A Remnant In a Land of Capitivity
I hope that America can get back to the word of God and learn to govern themselves rather than have the rule of tyranny, as we have today. The only way that can happen is if this nation can turn to God as a whole. We need a nation-wide revival. That, likely, will not happen. Instead, we, as Christians, will need to try to help little remnants get saved in the land of our captivity. We may not have been hauled away to Babylon, like Daniel, but we are truly captives in our own land. I pray that a remnant can come back to God and be saved and help to preserve this land with a few men of understanding.
